Richard Phillips

Richard joined the ABHI in June 2015 with over 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries, most recently as Director of Public Policy and Advocacy for North West Europe with BD. In 2008, whilst with Medtronic, Richard completed a short term assignment working “The Hill” in Washington DC.

Richard holds a first degree in Sports Science from Brighton Polytechnic and a Master’s in Health Economics Research and Management from Keele University. He served from 2003 until 2013 as a member of the Technology Appraisal Advisory Committee of the  National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and also on the Programme Advisory Group of the Healthcare Quality and Information Authority in Ireland. In November 2013, Richard was appointed as a non-Executive Director of the South West Peninsula Academic Health Science Network and served as its Chair, on an interim basis, for nine months from May 2015. He is a longstanding member of the Institute of Healthcare Management

Richard, his wife Luan, and their daughter Zelah Marie live in North Birmingham and West Cornwall.
