Project From waste to products: a pioneering circular economy model for research and healthcare systems
Description

LabCycle proposes to provide a service to recycle plastic consumables from the NHS and its affiliated research facilities. LabCycle will provide the sorting system and training packages for on-site waste segregation. Whilst infectious and non-recyclable waste is collected as usual and incinerated, single-use plastic consumables will be decontaminated and recycled with LabCycle’s Automated Decontamination System. The decontaminated plastics will be turned into high-grade recycled pellets and manufactured into lab/medical-grade consumables, re-entering NHS’s supply chain.
