Project Implementation of Elecsys® GAAD clinical algorithm for the early detection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) in routine practice
Description

With Roche Diagnostics Ltd, this 18-month project will explore the use of an innovative solution, called Elecsys®GAAD, to improve early Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) detection. Elecsys®GAAD is a fully regulated, accurate test that combines blood tests with gender and age. If raised, it can suggest the presence of HCC. It will be used alongside routine surveillance tests to see if it can help in finding HCC earlier so patients have the best chance of surviving this cancer.

Project An automated disease monitoring tool to optimise clinical workload
Description

There is intense pressure on global health care systems, in the UK this has resulted in a challenge to the NHS to deliver £20 bn of efficiency savings by 2020. Our sister company Xytal have unique experience of increasing productivity in the English primary care sector, by utilising lean process improvement techniques. This has revealed that there are some standardised protocol driven processes that could be cheaper and more reliably performed by automated machine based information systems.It is Xytek’s intention to develop, test and roll out heuristic clinical support software to relieve the clinician of repetitive rules based tasks.

Project Frailty and outreach audiology screening, pathway redesign using AI/cognitive Bot
Description

Development of:
● An accessible interface, script and logic for conducting a bot administered validated frailty survey (e.g. PRISMA) in multiple outreach settings;
● The data structures for data collected at nodes in the patient pathway;
● Methodologies to ‘push’ timely information to key professionals in health, social care to catalyse their collaboration.

Elucidation of:
● How the BOT strengthens pathway integrity and resilience through enforced systematisation (i.e. to be effective, reliable and equitable);
● BOT and Screening technology interoperability;
● Key usability challenges that could prevent clinical and eHealth/ICT acceptance/uptake;
● Standards compliant secure data transfer across services;
● Complex analysis of data derived from diagnostic instruments and qualitative screening processes to standardise referral decision making and automate escalation throughout the patient pathway.
