Project Project Angel - Using drones to deliver greener, faster and smarter healthcare to patients in the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Description

Our drones provide a safe, reliable, low-carbon alternative to current couriers. The NHS supply chain has known high emissions and inefficiencies - we will address and improve both. Drones can rapidly transport medical packages on-demand, removing couriers from the ground, reducing congestion, delays and emissions. Drone travel is also more predictable than road, allowing for greater confidence and reliability of delivery.
On showcasing our technology, we will:

  • Conduct evidence-based research on drone delivery safety and patient/clinician benefits to formulate use-cases;
  • Obtain regulatory approvals and complete drone operator tendering process;
  • Design the Northumbria Air Grid by mapping air corridors between hospitals, GPs and other healthcare facilities;
  • Design and implement an operational drone delivery service, economically and sustainably transporting medical supplies.

Green Rewards Limited- Jump

Project Team Jump-World-first healthcare specific carbon-engagement tool
Description

Jump produce engaging interfaces to motivate low-carbon decision making. This project will deliver three key innovations:

  1. A carbon footprint engagement tool that will include a healthcare-specific carbon calculator.
  2. A means to set goals that are specific to each individual staff member, reflecting that different roles have different decision making scope.
  3. A feedback loop for staff members, enabled by AI and based on Trusts’ corporate data. This will show progress to net zero in an engaging and dynamic way.
    This project will extend Jump’s platform, currently focussed on personal choices, to include work-related decision making for NHS staff. This will deliver greater sustainability, reduced NHS costs and will help provide patients with sustainable treatment options.

TCC-CASEMIX Limited

Project PredictOR Carbon Analytics
Description

TCC-CASEMIX® offers a fundamental new service to manage safety in use of medical devices in surgery. For the first time, there is total transparency of this use (as recommended by Cumberlege), set in the context of patient risk factors and post-surgical outcomes. The service is deployed as a cloud-based infrastructure of inter-connected and open registries providing access to device performance data from different stakeholder perspectives.

It is within this infrastructure that TCC-CASEMIX is developing PredictOR Carbon Analytics – another dimension of medical device performance in the surgical pathway. Working with a large group of medical device manufacturers we are on a mission to identify how and where carbon is embodied in the surgical pathway. The outcome will transform patient informed consent.
