AIMES
Project | AI Precision Diagnostics for Cardiovascular Care (OpenCARE) |
---|---|
Description |
OpenCare results from a collaboration between AIMES and St. Bartholomews Hospital/UCL and will deliver a PoC of an AI enhanced MRI heart function measurement service. Developed using more than 2m images from 10 sites, The algorithm betters human performance for speed, accuracy and prognostication. Pan--NHS use will change ~20% of major clinical decisions (e.g. ICD insertion). The PoC will demonstrate the deployment and operation of service based on the deployment of the algorithm within a secure, scalable and resilient Trustworthy Research Environment(TRE) and will work with 20 leading cardiology centres across the UK. OpenCARE will continue to learn, delivering continuously enhanced precision medicine and show how use of AI will support the optimisation of clinical time and decision making. |

Ceryx Medical Ltd
Project | Adaptive Neuronal Pacer for Heart Failure Treatment |
---|---|
Description |
Ceryx is developing a novel implantable bioelectronics therapeutic device targeting Heart Failure (HF). The technology will arrest, or reverse, HF pathology using a novel technique of modulating heart functions in line with respiration thereby improving efficiency and performance. The final device will resemble a standard pacemaker or cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device and, as such, implantation could be performed under local anaesthetic with a short hospital stay. Such a routine, low-risk and inexpensive procedure opens the possibility of Ceryx's device being used extensively to treat even early stage HF. The technology will offer an effective alternative to pharmacotherapies, which are limited, largely ineffective and expensive. |
