Project Pathpoint SurgiCare - Net Zero Initiative
Description

Pathpoint SurgiCare- Net Zero Initiative: cloud based workflow solution helping clinicians to prepare patients for surgery, facilitate sustainable decision making, and support recovery at home.

Our offering aims to provide a digital solution for the full perioperative care processes, from remotely delivered pre-admission clinics, sustainability-promoting clinical decision support, to patient-initiated follow-up and symptom monitoring.

Carbon impact of moving care closer to home will be measured to ensure that reductions in travel and length of inpatient stay achieved are not outweighed by increases elsewhere. This new service model for 21st century care aims to empower clinicians and patients to choose more sustainable surgical pathways.

Ufonia

Project Dora - autonomous telemedicine triage to increase the sustainability of hospital referrals
Description

Ufonia's mission is to increase the sustainability of healthcare by automating high volume, low complexity care. The company has developed Dora, an autonomous telemedicine assistant that can telephone patients as a like-for-like replacement for routine clinical appointments.

Dora uses next generation artificial intelligence, but patients don't require any technology - they simply receive a phone call. Clinical trials have shown patients are highly likely to recommend it to others. By reducing the demands on clinical staff patients can be cared for sooner. The solution provides triple-bottom line sustainability benefits by reducing the environmental and financial costs of healthcare travel and infrastructure, whilst improving accessibility, particularly to digitally disenfranchised citizens.

Project PMI Classifier: A user-friendly, evidenced-based tool supporting low-carbon decision making in medicines procurement and prescription To enable screen reader support, press Ctrl+Alt+Z To learn about keyboard shortcuts, press Ctrl+slash
Description

One fifth of NHS carbon emissions are attributable to medicines, and this must be reduced to deliver a Net Zero NHS. Currently, expenditure is used to estimate these emissions. We urgently need better metrics to support carbon-informed decisions in medicines procurement and prescription. Our tool, PMI Classifier, addresses this need.

The pharmaceutical sector has validated green-by-design metrics which we are adapting and scaling to all applicable medicines, and integrating with a practical, robust decision-making framework to produce a user-friendly tool that enables carbon-footprint medicines information to be accessed as needed within healthcare. We hope our solution will drive transparency, yield opportunities to incentivise greener production, and empower carbon-informed medicine choices.
