New funding competition focuses on two priority areas: Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), and Women’s Health

08 July 2024

SBRI Healthcare, an Accelerated Access Collaborative initiative, in partnership with the Health Innovation Network is delighted to announce a new funding competition.

SBRI Healthcare Competition 25 Phase 1 focuses on two priority areas, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), and Women’s Health.

In consultation with clinicians and other stakeholders working in provision of care across the spectrum, innovations under the overall theme of “Antimicrobial resistance (AMR)”, are sought that focus on:

  1. Point of care diagnostics, monitoring, and susceptibility testing

  2. Prescribing decision support and risk stratification

  3. Novel care delivery methods

  4. Infection prevention and control (IPC).

Under the overall theme of “Women’s Health”, innovations are sought that focus on:

  1. Gynaecological Conditions and Hormonal Health

  2. Mental Health

  3. Chronic Conditions and Long-term Health.

At early stage, the SBRI Healthcare programme offers a two-phased development approach; projects start with Phase 1 funding for initial feasibility, and subject to funding can then move on to more detailed product development.

Phase 1 contracts for technical and commercial feasibility testing are valued at up to £100,000 (NET) and last for six months. Phase 2 contracts for prototype development and early clinical evidence are worth up to £800,000 (NET), subject to budget availability, over one year.

Single organisations (contracts are executed with individual legal entities) based in the UK or EU from the private, public and third sectors, including companies (large corporates and small and medium enterprises), charities, universities, and NHS providers, given a strong commercial strategy is provided, are eligible to apply.

Applications are open from 17 July 2024 to 13:00 (BST) 28 August 2024.
