Description

Tika is developing innovative reagents for improving rapid diagnosis of mycobacterial infections. Tika has discovered and optimised the use of a new supplement that in a laboratory setting can significantly reduce the time for detection in liquid media. In addition, the Company has shown that this supplement can increase the sensitivity and speed of growing colonies on solid media which could significantly improve the speed and accuracy of antibiotic resistance testing.

Project Real-time detection of cancer using a hand-held molecular imaging fibrescope
Description

Lightpoint Medical’s Enlight is an intraoperative imaging device which has the potential to detect residual cancer cells during surgery, and thereby avoid the need for re-operation. Initially being investigated in breast cancer, it is hoped to have benefits for surgery on all solid tumour types.

Project Urine processing hardware for point of care testing of Chlamydia
Description

TwistDX has developed a 15-minute point of care test for Chlamydia/Gonorrhoea. This enables diagnosis and treatment within one clinic visit, bringing significant clinical advantages of increased treatment compliance and a reduced risk of onward transmission. Patients will benefit from a simplified clinical pathway potentially obviating the need for follow-up appointments.
