The funding panel for the Phase 2 Integrated Care and Social Care competition was as follows:

Professor Michael Lewis (Chair)
Non Executive Chairman, iPlato Ltd
Professor Michael Lewis is Chair of five Medical/CRO/digital health companies and Professor at Birmingham Medical School. His industry experience covers pharma, biotech, digital, dental, devices and diagnostics and he is also Chair of the Biocatalyst Major Awards (MAC2) Panel.

Ms Vikki Hearn
Strategic Commissioning Manager, Somerset County Council
Vikki has a background in managing Leaving Care Services, housing strategy and commissioning. She currently manages the commissioning needs of Somerset County Council, which is working with its local partners to create a more integrated approach to the delivery of health and social care.

Ms Charlotte Williams
Group Director, Strategy & New Care Models, Mid & South Essex University Hospitals Group
Charlotte’s role encompasses strategy, improvement, leadership, innovation. She joined MSE following six years at UCLPartners. Previous roles include NHS Five Year Forward View team, leading NHS New Care Models, and 18 years NHS senior experience.

Mr Ian Sandison
Medical Technology Consultant
Ian spent nine years with Becton Dickinson and three years at Smiths Medical. He assists medtech companies with strategy, planning and commercialisation. He works with the Eastern AHSN on their NHS Readiness events, and he contributes to the Cambridge University, Judge Business School MBA programme.

Alice Evans
Co-Head, Responsible Investment, BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA)
Alice has extensive fund management experience running global equity funds with a focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, and specialises in the healthcare sector.

Mr Richard Deed
Associate Director Industry, Health Innovation Manchester****
Richard’s early career was in oncology research, followed by 20 years of commercialisation and industry facing activity in the NHS. He has been involved in previous and current SBRI Healthcare calls, defining the clinical needs and acting as an assessor.

Dr Stuart Monk
Associate Director, South West Academic Health Science Network
Stuart is an Associate Director at the South West AHSN. Previously he has built partnerships between SMEs and academics, driven change and continuous improvement at a technology company and led scientific for golf’s governing body.

Dr Sam Shah
Digital Health Tech Advisor and Clinical Director Dentist practises
Former Director of Digital Development NHSE and NHSX, Sam is now an expert Digital Heath tech advisor.

Mr Swapnil Gadgil
Co-founder and CEO, Therapy Box
Swapnil is Co-founder and CEO of Therapy Box, a multi-million pound health tech business established 10 years ago with £800. His expertise is in identifying unmet healthcare needs, product development and commercialisation.

Professor Tony Young
Consultant Urological Surgeon in the NHS, Director of Medical Innovation at Anglia Ruskin University and National Clinical Lead for Innovation at NHS England
Professor Young is a practicing frontline NHS surgeon, National Clinical Director for Innovation at NHSE, Director of Medical Innovation at Anglia Ruskin University, and has founded four Med-Tech start-ups. He has also co-founded the £500m Anglia Ruskin Med-Tech Campus, which will become one of the world’s largest health innovation spaces.

Dr Glenn Wells (Chair), Chief Operating Officer, Oxford Academic Health Science Centre
Glenn is an experienced professional in the life science and healthcare sector, particularly in funding and management of translational research & development of national policy.

Dr Tracey Vell MBE
Associate Lead for Primary & Community Care, Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership
Tracey is an expert in medical leadership. Her interests include creative strategy. She has a strong record in collaborative management and has worked with local and national bodies.

Patrick Mitchell
Director of Innovation and Transformation, Health Education England
Patrick’s career stems from hospital operations holding several senior Board positions. He joined HEE in 2013 and most recently oversaw the Topol Review to investigate the workforce, education and training implications of the introduction of digital technologies.

Justin is an innovation and management consultant. He has coached well over 100 SMEs in developing and commercialising new technology, as well as leading many projects in health and life sciences sector.

David Connell
Senior Research Fellow, Cambridge Judge Business School
David has spent many years working in the science and technology sector. He was a cofounder of Archipelago Technology, a Cambridge company which specialises in high precision print technology. The design of the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) is largely based on proposals made by David.
