Professor Mike Lewis (Chair)

Mike is Chair of 5 Medical/CRO/digital health companies and Professor at Birmingham Medical School. His industry experience covers pharma, biotech, digital, dental, devices and diagnostics and he is also Chair of the Biocatalyst Major Awards (MAC2) Panel

Clinical professional working in the NHS as Director of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering; expertise in Medical Imaging & Medical Devices

Dr Sourav Ghosh
Lecturer, Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering
Acoustic and optical biosensors applied to rapid point-of-care diagnosis of infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance, wounds and chronic disease biomarkers 

Dr Richard Williams
Healthcare Product Development lead, Healthcare Technologies Institute, University of Birmingham
Expertise in the translation of biomaterial/drug healthcare technologies from concept to finished products progressing through clinical studies and commercial exploitation

Professor Tony Young
IRLS, NHSE, National Clinical Lead for Innovation
Speciality Urology. Expertise: All aspects of healthcare and life science innovation and has acted as external examiner for PhD's in ML at UCL

Following a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge Mark has spent over 20 years working for venture capital companies supporting life science businesses

Mr Billy Boyle

Mr Richard Deed
Associate Director Industry, Health Innovation Manchester
Richard’s early career was in oncology research, followed by 20 years of commercialisation and industry facing activity in the NHS.  He has been involved in previous and current SBRI Healthcare calls, defining the clinical needs and acting as an assessor

Miss Tammy Holmes
Head of Innovation Exchange, West Midlands Academic Health Science Network
20 year’s experience working in the NHS in a number of operational roles in innovation and research supporting innovators from industry, NHS and academia to develop and implement ideas

Mr Patrick Mitchell
Director of Innovation and Transformation, Health Education England
Patrick’s career stems from hospital operations holding several senior Board positions. He joined HEE in 2013 and most recently oversaw the Topol Review to investigate the workforce, education and training implications of the introduction of digital technologies.

Dr Dan Boden
Interim National Clinical Director for Urgent and Emergency care
Lincoln County Hospital A&E Consultant Dr Dan Boden has recently been appointed as the Interim National Clinical Director for Urgent and Emergency Care. His experience includes working between the A&E departments at Lincoln and Pilgrim hospitals, while also working as the Emergency Care Improvement Support Team (ECIST) Clinical Associate and the East of England Emergency Medicine Regional Clinical Advisor for NHS England and NHS Improvement.

Professor Pankaj Vadgama
Emeritus Professor of Clinical Biochemistry, Queen Mary University of London
His main interest is biosensors for near patient diagnostics and metabolite monitoring, with particular focus on polymeric barrier materials for enhanced biocompatibility

Dr Paula Bennett
Associate Director, Health Innovation Manchester
Paula has 26 years clinical practice in adult and paediatric emergency nursing. Paula has a Doctorate from University of Salford that evaluated the impact of computerised clinical decision support on frontline care. Paula first joined the Utilisation Management Unit in October 2016 as its Associate Director of clinical development and has recently taken on the responsibility of strategic lead for the team.

Dr Paul Hanmer
Program Manager at Health Innovation Manchester
Dr Paul Hanmer is an inventor and technology expert who has worked in the public and private sector to develop and integrate innovations with health provider organisations. Paul has worked with NICE, the NHS National Innovation Centre, Health Innovation Manchester and NHS England as well as international commercial medical device companies.

Mr Matt Aiello
National Lead for Urgent and Emergency Care at Health Education England
Matt is engaged in the research and development of innovative workforce transformation programmes, with an aim to address the Urgent and Emergency Care workforce challenges in the UK. Since taking up post in 2013, Matt has prepared and delivered an award-winning portfolio of pilot and test-of-concept projects. Matt is currently leading Health Education England’s national Urgent and Emergency Care programme.
